Mireia is a gender expert and the founder of Cano Gender Solutions. She has a long track record in supporting governments, UN agencies, INGOs, and the private sector integrate gender equality in their organisations and programmatic work. Her three key areas of specialisation are:
- Women, Peace and Security: Mireia is a lecturer for the Masters on Human Rights and Humanitarian Action at Sciences Po; she provides operational support on inclusion of women in peace processes at the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue; between 2014-2016, she worked as International Gender Advisor to the Colombian Peace Process for the Norwegian MFA.
- Women's Leadership in the Blue and Green Economies: Mireia works for UNDP and the Global Environment Facility promoting women-led nature-based solutions in the Blue and Green Islands Programme; in 2022, she developed the Gender Policy for the Global Fund for Coral Reefs.
- Gender in Humanitarian Action and Emergency Preparedness: Mireia has lived and worked in conflict settings from Colombia to DRC, including setting up UNFPA Colombia's first field office in Nariño in 2010; she has also worked in Emergency Preparedness, including the current evaluation of WFP's Preparedness Policy.
