
José has an extensive track record as both an academic and a development practitioner. He earned his Ph.D. in Political Science in 2000, and currently is an Associate Professor and researcher at the Political Science and Public Administration Department of the University Eduardo Mondlane (Mozambique).
José has more than 20 years of experience as a development and governance consultant. His areas of interest include political economy analysis, extractive industries, democratization and political institutions, public sector reform and institutional development, decentralization, public management, anti-corruption, civil society and development aid, in which has a considerable record of publications and consultancy assignments.
José has a long experience of consulting work with development partners, public sector and civil society. He is the co-founder and senior Consultant of MAP consulting limited, a Mozambican development and management consulting firm, with 14 years of experience in the consulting business, including conducting baseline studies in the areas of education, water and sanitation, health, business ethics and the mining sector.
