Jean Louis Martin is an experienced economist with a global vision of the world economy and an in-depth knowledge of the "emerging world". He has studied emerging countries for over 40 years, with long-term assignments in Colombia, Côte d'Ivoire, Cape Verde and Mexico.
Jean-Louis has worked as a consultant in economics since 2018, with clients such as the World Bank (macroeconomics, financing for development), Agence Française de Développement (design and evaluations of policy-based loans), the Spanish Development Agency AECID (inequality), United Nations agencies (financing of adaptation to climate change) and the European Investment Bank.
Prior to this, Jean-Louis spent most of his career in the banking sector, with rising responsibilities in research teams and in international banking. Earlier, he worked several years as a consultant in macroeconomics, public finance and economic statistics and as an economist at the French development agency (AFD).
Jean Louis is an associate fellow (on Latin America) at the French Institute for International Relations (IFRI). He speaks French, Spanish, English and Portuguese.
