Nature and biodiversity

Nature and biodiversity have both economic and intrinsic values.  According to the World Economic Forum, over half of global GDP depends on ecosystem services. Forests, grasslands and wetlands regulate water flows and soil absorption, playing a key role in water security and flood prevention. Forests, oceans and glaciers regulate the climate and weather patterns, and plants provide valuable inputs for medicine. Pollinators like birds, bees and insects contribute to crop production globally. Moreover, nature also has spiritual and recreational value and has physical and mental health benefits.

Future Horizons’ expertise on nature and biodiversity spans several areas, from  nature valuation and climate change mitigation to due diligence in the context of  supply chains, Indigenous Peoples’ rights, and sustainable finance.
