Future Horizons Institute

Who we are

Future Horizons Institute is a nonprofit think tank working at the intersection of climate, nature, and business, to help build a sustainable and fair world.  We facilitate inter-disciplinary dialogues, research and platforms for North-South and East-West collaboration in partnership with universities, businesses and like-minded institutions.

Topics

We  work on the following topics, in collaboration with partners from the Global South and North:

The Future of Nature

  • The nature-climate nexus and its implications for water security

  • The relationship between biodiversity and food systems under a changing climate

  • The role of the financial sector in safeguarding natural capital in a context of evolving regulations

  • The relationship between shareholders and stakeholders for natural resource management in the context of the energy transition

  • The role of nature-based solutions in climate change adaptation

The Future of Business

  • Business and “The Good Economy”

  • The political economy of the energy transition

  • Sustainable finance and ESG in global trade and investment flows

  • Trade and investment flows for sustainable value chains and communities

  • Managing financial risks for the benefit of nature and people

Activities

Future Horizons Institute explores the intersections between climate, nature and business through webinars, seminars and policy briefs.

Policy recommendations for the G20:  In February 2024, we were selected to write a policy brief to inform the G20 summit in Brazil, in partnership with several universities from around the world. Click here to learn more.
