Guide for Integrated Planning in Africa

Claudia was contracted by a consortium of multilateral organisations to write the Guide for Integrated Planning in Africa in 2020. The Guide is a one-stop-shop for governments looking to integrate climate action and disaster risk reduction, as well global and regional development agendas, in their National Development Plans.

This project was the result of a partnership by UNDP Regional Bureau for Africa, the African  Development Bank, the African Union Development Agency-NEPAD, and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, to help countries build resilience through integrated development planning, leveraging on the SDGs, Africa’s Agenda 2063 and their own Nationally Determined Contributions. As such, it is meant as a resource to facilitate crisis recovery and development pathways crafted by national governments, based on their specific priorities.

The Guide benefitted from consultations with a wide range of experts and senior government officials.   While it was written with African governments in mind, it can be used by any government, in any region. It includes an inventory of modelling and foresight tools, as well as user friendly templates, and a comprehensive list of resources. It is available both as an interactive online tool and in PDF format, at https://ipguideafrica.org/.
